We made it to Idaho! Woo Hoo!

Burns, Oregon was a booming metropolis, and the only thing we can figure is it is a central hub for travelers and commercial vehicles transiting from coast to coast or north to south. The campground was well laid out with large sites and beautiful grassy lawns with the sound of frogs in the background!
After our overnight stop in Burns, we moved our way further East through more rolling hills, farmland and ranches.

We crossed the boarder at the Snake River into what we thought was Potato country! Who knew Eastern Oregon/Western Idaho was the home of the onion!

John didn’t believe me when I said the Oregon Trail followed our route, but the information center told him otherwise.

We stopped for lunch at the info center before heading on to our next stop in Mountain Home. Why do info centers always have brochures about how to spend lots of money in the state?

When we got settled at our first “RV Resort”, we all got dressed and went for a swim. This place was super nice, with large spots, pool/hot tub, playground and dog park.

Afterwards John made a awesome halibut taco dinner and Addy got a FaceTime call from her BFF Jada!

These girls will hopefully be forever friends through FaceTime, postcards and maybe surprise visits!
This morning brought our next bump in the road with a leaking stem valve on a three week old tire. I’m glad John doesn’t just ignore me when I say “that tire looks flat”! A quick check found it 30psi low. A fill with the compressor found the problem.
So off I went to the local Les Schwab for a warranty repair! Not sure why the kids thought it would be a good idea to come with for the hour and half wait, but they did.

Maybe it was the dreams of a pile of junk food, which of course came true!
Well we are hitting the road again, full of sugar and hopes of smooth sailing for a while!

Been to Bend. Flew into Baker for work, then a half-day drive to Bend.
One of the things contributing to truck traffic perhaps is Clean Harbor’s medium-level rad waste encapsulation plant there about 30 mi south on the road to Frenchglen. (USPCI/Laidlaw owned it when I worked for them.) Rad waste was mixed into numbered concrete blocks containing lead carbonate and placed in a concrete vault in the ground.
Probably not that interesting to most people, but I’m a science nerd after all.

Such beautiful country. Where should I send Addy’s Birthday card? Or should I just send a gift through Apple Pay or Venmo? ❤️

She does not have a vaccination for Venmo, so please don’t send any. We are not anywhere we can get mail so just be as creative as you want. We will make it work.

Beautiful sky! How should I address Birthdays while you are on the road? Shall I mail a card somewhere or send a “gift” via Apple Pay or Venmo? I know it’s a long way off but can’t wait until you get to the East coast.

Electronic gift cards are probably best… Addy’s is tomorrow!
