I thought the prior days were amazing when it came to scenery and wildlife viewing. After leaving Muncho Lake, we continued out of the Northern Rockies and ran across more wildlife and differing scenery.

This caribou was so busy doing his thing that it let us drive right up to it. We weren’t harassing it by any means, it was just right on the side of the highway next to the passenger side of the truck. It did not give a lick that we were there. So we took some pictures and continued down the road, and what a beautiful road it was!
Soon we happened upon these Stone Sheep on the highway. They seemed slightly intimidated by our large camper and the other vehicles near by, but let me get a picture none the less. I’m so glad that my shoulder is starting to cooperate so grabbing my phone and taking snapshots is much quicker!

Though we were just stopping for a bathroom break, we noticed this single Caribou standing in the field adjacent to the pullout.

After finally making it out of the mountainous passes, we began seeing more plateau or flat mountain scenery in the distance. Our camp spot for the night was Buckinghorse River Provincial Park.

Here the Buckinghorse River runs just a 100 feet or so from the sites, and was slow and low enough for the kids to have some fun exploring.

Even John got out and explored!

However, the bugs were out in force, so we made the best of it and took some time to make baked apples and played some Yahtzee!

As mentioned before, my shoulder is feeling quite a bit better, so I managed to actually sleep in a bed the last two nights, which has been great. Since I will not stop our adventures for the PT they suggested at the very nice hospital in Whitehorse, I am doing my own program of recovery and rehabilitation.

Loved this. Brings back so many of my memories of driving and seeing animals along the side of the road in Alaska and stopping to take photos.
