The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining us on our next life adventure!

This journey has been in the works for just over a year now when after going back and forth on whether to find a new job (since I was due to be laid off) or do something different, we decided on the something different option.

One night while sitting on our couch, surfing Facebook, my husband was sitting there laughing to himself. Of course, his laughter piqued my interest, and what he told me was “the people on this Full Time RV site were cracking him up”.  Now, my husband has been the cause of many adventures in our 16 years together, but Full Time RV’ing was not something I ever imagined would be in our future.  But, my interest in his laughter caused a movement in our household when I joined the same site and started to get interested in what this lifestyle would be like.

Seeing posts about families on the road, visiting places we only dreamed of, and making it all work in their travel trailer, 5th wheel or other RV made me start to wonder if this is something we could manage while we figured out where our feet would land next.

To be honest, traveling is in our blood.  From working in jobs that took us to incredible places, to picking a new destination and making it home when life required or allowed.  See, we have managed to live in all of the western United States including Hawaii and Alaska.  Moving is not new to us or the kids.  They have also been apart of many of our regular travel adventures.  Our son flew across the world to Scotland with us when he was just two-and-a-half years old.  Our daughters first big trip was in 2016 when we took her to England at the age of six.

So, for the next year we will be wandering the lower 48 after we depart Valdez, Alaska July 1st in our 400 square foot home on wheels while homeschooling the kids (I cannot possibly screw them up too much in a year, right?).  And though this journey is not quite as far as Scotland or England, it is still new and exciting, and another way for us to bond as a family.

We hope you will enjoy following our journey and updates.
