Ok, so I’m not officially retired, as this journey will end one day and we will both have to get back to reality. But what should have been a first official day of unemployment was interrupted by a small-ish electrical issue with the mobile condominium.
Somewhere between Valdez and Slide Mountain we got a grounded wire in our GFI system. Of course wires in campers are much like boats, they run in the most indirect ways and are permanently hidden between walls and cabinets where you just can’t get to them.
Unlike boats (or at least real boats) the manufacturers seem to think that wiring diagrams are not for the owners to have. Maybe that’s because most RV owners wouldn’t even know how to read them, but we do and it probably would have saved us some trouble. Luckily we have dealt with this situation in the past and know how to help ourselves later when these situations arise.

Six hours into my “day off” we managed to find the wire that’s the source of our problem. With about 90% of the outlets now working, we have decided the issue will need to be handled by the authorized dealer because tearing the underbelly off this sucker is not going to be fun.
I’m glad we are both mechanically inclined, and have some experience with electricity. I have to say thanks to my good friend Captain Tim Voss for having me tear a boat apart and re-wire it, or I would have been no help what so ever!
Now back to relaxing!
